550 to 750 engine swap
10 Apr 2008 10:45
Hello i just bought an 83 kz550 ltd.
im getting the carbs rebuilt but i '88 750 engine with carbs and lots of other goodies on craigslist for a benjamin... so i could just get a bigger badder engine with newer carbs but is the swap possible? is there enough clearance?
what would it take to make it possible?

Any swap is possible with a big enough hammer, but I'd wager the cost and pain of doing it would be a lot more than just buying a nice used 750 bike.
Might have a problem with the exhaust outlets not clearing where the frame down tubes reside.

I believe the only thing required for a 650 bottom/750 top (size wise) is to enlarge the holes for the sleeves slightly to fit the 750 cylinders.
