dont know what the operating temp is,why would you want a stat in line,, wouldnt it also need a bypass also?
Unless you ride in real cold weather why would you need one

I would do like cars but more of like a 170, instead of 195 like my liquid cooled jeep. 160 is good

I'd say more like 200 or more, oil is sposed to be hotter than coolant.

i think the 160-180 range is good. i would say if you have an oil cooler you might as well use a thermostat.
thermostat
i wouldn't use this one, but the concept of one sounds like it might be a good idea. my bike already takes 15-20 min to get to operating temperature. the thermostat allows the bike to get to operating temp much faster than w' just cooler w/no thermostat.

Had a lockhart thermostat and it worked great. Earls has some real nice ones.i would guess 180-200 degree range.in cool weather a cooler without a stat can slow oil flow as the oil never gets warm.i have seen engines pump all oil from the pan in cold weather it will collect in the valve covers as it is to cold an thick to return thru the small passages.
