i have a 78 kz1000 thats leaking oil onto the headers. i think it needs a new headgasket, but i'm not sure how to change it, let alone whats involved in the process. if anyone can point me in the right direction or may know an estimated price to be fixed at a mechanic i would appreciate it.

Check and make sure the leak isn't coming from where the tach cable hooks on. Common leak for old KZ's!:)

well its kind of hard to find. but it gives the signs of a headgasket. like the exaust blowing blue smoke, and the oil looking like it has gas mixed into it, and the headers smoking after riding it for ten minutes.

If there's gas in your oil. Change the oil before running again. Sounds like your carb float(s) are stuck and gas is leaking into your oil. Petcock may be leaking as well. Check both and repair. Change oil and try again. Good luck.B)
