First, determine if it is a steel or bronze guide. Stick a magnet on it. If it is steel, you heat the head. If bronze, drive them out cold.
It is very important that you remove every trace of carbon from the nose of the guides, especially the exhaust. That stuff is hard enough to broach out the hole in the head as you are driving the guide out. ( we have guides in many different oversizes).
We never install steel guides, so we do not heat the heads up for installation. We have special fixtures that aligns the head in the press, and we press the guides in cold.
At that point, you will need to recut the seat, so hone the valve guide to fit the pilot you are using. Then cut the seat and reassemble.

It looks like a shadow around the guide, and just because they are cracked does that mean they arent going to work? If the guide was that crooked, the seat cut would be way off center and you couldn't help but notice. The guides can be driven into place but most people don't like to do it that way. They would first need to be honed and then again afterward. The most important thing is to use lube so they start straight, otherwise they take on their own direction and end up off center to the seat.

I already got some APE parts, and I will go for the APE guides. VGK900
"APE guides are precision machined with the bores finished to size."
Do I still need to hone them?

yes you still need to fit them to the proper size, and grind or cut the seats,, also you will need to adj the valve stem length since it will be deeper in the seat and longer on the stem side,, in addition you may want to consider valve spring shims to keep them at the peoper install height and pressure.

Yes... Between all of the valves out there, the stem sizes vary slightly. We make our guides to the smallest we have found. However when you press them in,. they will shrink a bit. Honing will be necessary.
