750 head?

Ok, I just bought a 80 Kz750 head off of ebay to go on my 810cc engine. I just realized that this head has egr ports coming from the exhaust port up to the area just behing the cam cover. Do all 750 heads have these egr passages? I was not aware that they did. Looks like I will be welding in aluminum plugs if they do.

I might be crazy but I think you can buy block off plates that bolt on. I'm sure somebody with more knowledge can chime in.

Fill the holes that lead into the exhaust ports with epoxy (I used Quick Steel) and use your 650 cam cover :)

Welding will work also, you'll just have to file it smooth.

Alright, I planned on using my 650's cover, it's not as ugly as the 750's. I work in a machine shop so I got that part covered.:woohoo:

Do you think the hole in the exhaust port behind the valve guide has any effect on the flow through the port? I don't think it would because most of the flow in the port is concentrated around the short side radius. Maybe just create some turbulance.

I'd be afraid that the quick steel stuff would fall out anyways with all the heat in the exhaust port.

It's lasted for around 1000 miles so far, if it does fall out I'll notice the exhaust leak and maybe drill and tap it next time.

Another easy way to plug a vacuum port is find some fuel hose or heater hose that fits over the fitting, cut off a 1" piece, and then find a bolt that plugs the other end of the hose tight.
