After 5 years I'm finally starting on my '78 KZ 1000 project. The goal is to have a solid, reliable 10 second street machine. I already have some 34mm roundslides and a Dyna S ignition. I should also mention it has a Vance and Hines 4 into 1 exhaust. Can I get away using my exsisting parts with some more aggresive cams and gearing? Any direction would be greatly appreciated.
Thanks!
Welcome Aboard, octanemoto! You've come to the right place. :woohoo:
Ouestion please -- Is "10 sec" referring to anything under 11 sec?
Good Luck with the build!

I'll post some pictures soon. The snow is finally starting to disappear. When I disassembled the bike, I noticed the engine was not only strong, but exceptionally clean inside. I was hoping I just might get away with cams vs a big bore kit. I had also considered the use of nitrous. I'm also envisoning a 4" over swing arm. I've earmarked between $1800.00 to $2000.00 for the project. I hope this information will help. Thanks for the responses!
Does anyone know a good source for a swingarm?
