Here in Oz we have a ZR750 zephyr 91 - whatever and then the ZR750 ZR7 basically the same engine and indead the same as a GPZ750 and the KZ750
If you look closely at the ZR750/ZR7 head you will see at the front the embossed area for a mechanical/cable driven tacho. I'm not sure exactly what year model was the last for kawasaki to use this but appox 1980
If you can fit a KZ750 head onto a KZ700 ( not released in OZ ) then a ZR750 would fit also

Did you use a ZR-7 head? Or did you use a Zephyr 750 head?
I have a ZR-7 head in my shed, and I want to put it on my KZ700. I also have a set op GPZ cams, so I would like to put them in the ZR-7 head, but I've read that the ZR-7 cams are a bit different from the older KZ or GPZ cams... (not the lobes, but the camshaft itself).

This is a really cool post and thanks for all the info and set up. I am thinking about degreeing my cams on a couple of my bikes this winter. How do you like the 104/106? Have you tried other settings? Curious since I have a KZ750.

Thanks Cafe, 104/106 are good numbers from what i'v found. When i first checked the cam timing after 30,000km of mono's, track days and simply froggin the hell out of her, I found the timing at 108/102. These numbers could have been because of the marry of zr750 head and barrel on a gpz bottom end, or, were and tear, I'm not sure, but definatly runs more crisp now. Short lived though, i'm now changing the cams to gpz zx and have to start all over again
