1983 kz 550 F1

My name is keith and i am new to the kz world and this site. I dont know much about them. I have just recently had a 83 kz 550 F1 given to me and wanted to get some input on it. Are they rare? is shaft driven bad? Can i convert the shaft drive to a chain drive? any kind of info on this bike would be greatly appreciated!

Hi Keith and welcome to KZr. I also ride a 1983 KZ550 shaft drive. It's a great bike - no problems at all, shaft drive, 6 speed, 10,000 RPM red line, fuel economy, pep, power and pickup are all great features of the bike. It's perfect for quick trips to the corner store and will cruise all day with the big boys on the highway:)

where can i find aftermarket/stock parts for it? i like my toys to be fast and unique!

Parts are readily available, although not necessarily stocked, at the dealers, eBay, and the suppliers listed in the vendor directory. When shopping for parts use the Kawasaki.com site to get the part numbers to speed up the process. Best of luck with your 550:)
