Sorry for the dumb question but..does the stock 76 Kz900 cam sprockets have a different number of teeth from the 77 or 78 Kz1000?

Same part # used, so same # of teeth.

-1977 Kz650 Custom bought new by brother. Now with 810 kit, GPz750 cams, intake valves, Mikuni 29 smoothbores, velocity stacks, Dyna Igntion, MAC pipe and other goodies.
-1982 Ferrari 308 GTSi Red/Tan
-Toyota FJ Cruiser - 6 speed tank
-2010 Mazda CX-7 Turbo (my bride's)
-1998 Jeep TJ Wrangler 4.0...

Thank you. I thought I had seen a post recently from another member saying he was going to have to change the sprockets because of this very issue but I must have misread the post or perhaps it was addressing a later year of Kz1000?

The 900s / 1000s NON MK2 have 30T sprockets and a 122 link chain. The MK2 crank has 32T sprockets and a 124 link chain.

I have a 77 KZ900, it has the 30 tooth cam sprockets, normally enough. I got another set of cams from a later model head that had 32 tooth sprockets, but you can unbolt the sprockets and change them out for the 30 tooth ones.
