Heres a couple crappy cellphone pics of me boring out the top case at work for the 750 sleaves.

It didn't take much at all. Only about .050" per bore.

Judging from your pics I would say, very nice machining work.

I enlarged my 650's cases to handle the 750 cylinders by hand. I used an aluminum cutting bit on a variable speed hand drill. The whole job took maybe two hours, little by little. Your boring job looks much cleaner than my did, but you've gotta get by with what you have on hand, and all I had was...my hands.

I am in agreement with steell. Never heard about a 650 bottom end failing before here on KZR. These bottom ends were probably over-built, but like any performance motor, they need their oil when the rpm's start climbing.

Lord knows that I have beaten the snot out of my motor in its various incarnations and there has never been a problem with the crank, bearings, rods or tranny. Gotta love the original 650 platform.

Guess like any love affair, its all about proper warm up and proper lubrication:-)

Yea, it's hard telling the life it had before me. I had this bike given to me this spring after sitting for 12 years. I changed the oil several times this summer to get all the old junk out of it. I guess it just had other plans.
