Clutch noise was created by jrjstuff
I am getting a lot of noise from inside the clutch cover when the bike is in neutral. When I pull the clutch lever in 80% of the noise goes away. I just recently replaced the cable, lubed and cleaned all the parts inside the sprocket cover and the clutch has great action. It even functions quite well, no slipping, shifts from gear to gear easily but... that just seems to be quite a bit of noise. Any ideas?

When you replaced the cable, did you adjust the clutch as per the FSM? If it didn't rattle before the new cable, this would be my guess.

The rattle was present prior to cable change but the bike is a work in progress and now that it runs smoothly after much needed attention the noise is much more evident.

I don't know what you have done to your bike since you have been working on it, but they can rattle and vibrate if the carbs are out of balance. Or you could simply have worn clutch components.
I hope you find the source of rattle.
There is some cam chain noise if the idle is set too low, but I don't think that should be affected by the clutch being pulled in.

Yea me too. I think I am just going to have to pull the old clutch and replace it with a new one. I was reading in another thread that the factory OEM clutch is better than the aftermarket one because the aftermarket ones seen to require more spring pressure. So... a new clutch I think I will have to try. Of coarse once I have the clutch cover off I will be able to tell more. Thanks for the input!!

Sorry for "rattling on" but he is an old video of my 750 not running on 2 cylinders (or only on) while idling. Above 3000rpm, the other coil fired up and the bike ran on all four.

This isn't your problem, but the more you know...

You know that chattering sound in that viedo is a lot like the one I am having. I am going to go check for spark at low rpms in all cyl. And recheck the timing too. Thanks!!
