I have just bought a kz 1000j from 1984.
The engine number is: kztooje032920.
From which year is this engine?

Hello Villy...what makes you think it is a 1984 KZ1000J model (I have a reason for asking)? The motor says 1982 KZ1000J2 (see www.zedder.com )

Thank you Mcdroid. The reason why I ment it was from 1984, is because, according to the papers, the first time it had numberplates on, was in '84. Thanks to your link I can see that the engine is from '82. Now can you also help me with the frame number?
The number is kztooj013477. Which year is the frame from?

Hello Villy...the frame number tells me it is a non-North American model...let me check some more info that I have, but is at home. What country are you in?

I am from Denmark, Scandinavia. But the bike was bought in Germany a couple of years ago.

Hello Villy...the Non-North America KZ1000J2 model had a frame VIN between KZT00J-007901 to 017500 making your frame a 1982 model also...I suspect the motor is original. You have saved a wonderful bike.
