Will 1000 cyl bolt on 900 was created by GregZ
My question is this. A friend has a 1000 cylinder bored to 1045 with a new wisco piston kit. Will this bolt right on a 900 motor or will the engine case need to be honed to fit. Will this set up work well with stock 900 cams.thanks

The 1045 is a "factory" overboar, are you sure it is not a Wiseco 1075? and even than it should drop right in and gain about 10-12bhp useing stock cams.

GregZ...the cases will have to be opened up a bit for the 1015 (original size from a 1977/8 KZ1000) jugs to fit. The jugs will not drop in...but, it's a relatively minor adjustment with a dremel tool:)

the cases are castings... some of the 900 cases will accept a 1015 cylinder without any mods... others need a bit of dremel work.
just the luck of the draw there :P

yep what Bob said.remember taking that much meat from a stock 900 sleeve takes a lot of rigidity out and doesnt leave much support for ring seal;)

Still recovering, some days are better than others.

The older 1015 blocks... 77/some 78 tend to drop in while the newer 79/80 tend not to drop in. The later cases have NO small slot for the large rubber oring that goes around the base of the cylinder liner. I kind of disagree with Bob_z1 on the Dremel thing... it would require some patience to use a grinding stone with a Dremel to clearance the 903 cases... I think a die grinder is the correct tool... it ain't rocket science by the way. I hear people talk as if you are doing some fine-tuned work... you just need to whack away some material so the block cylinder liners will drop in.

Test fit the cylinder on the case and you will be able to see and feel where the two lack clearance and then get the die grinder out with a stone and grind for about 3-4 minutes and the cases are "honed" bwhahhahahaha I have had the block fit without the clearancing and not fit until clearanced and I am pretty sure the origin of the 1015 block is the key but can't swear to it as I never really paid a lot of attention... I have done this mod a couple dozen times. If you do clearance the cases, it is best to have them split for cleaning after the grinding, whether you do it with a dremel, grinder or other means.

WG: I fitted a '80 KZ1000 cylinder block to KZ900 cases by using a drill and a grinding stone along with some time and patience. Very little material needed to be removed - I was surprised how little in fact.

I would only dremel cases that need a small amount of work.... more than that I have a fixture I use to mount the cases in a machining center and bore the cases for clearance, like when using larger sleeves(over 1075cc)
