V&H Pipes for a 82' KZ1000 LTD ? was created by dannyg40
Looking into doing my own pipes/jetting/ valve adjustment soon. I would love to be able to use a V&H pipe. I looked at Vance & Hines site and found a pipe for a 1981-82 1000 "J" bike only. I E-mailed V&H and got this reply when asking i the pipe would fit the LTD........
We do not have anything specific for your bike. The 13009j is for the 81-82 KZ1000 āJā model only. The motor mounting might be the same but we have no confirmation if it will fit the LTD frame model.

Does anyone know if the pipe or what pipe does fit the 1982 KZ1000 LTD K-2 Model?
I dont want to loose my center stand, or any modifying. Im not crazy about the "upsweep" of the Kerker style. Just a nice straight pipe kinda like the old "Star" exhaust systems looked like.

Like FloridaBiker demonstrated, you may be able to get many things to fit where they hadn't oughta. But what you need to worry about is if the header pipes will fit and they will...you may have to fabricate a hanger to support the muffler/can but that would be it...you have a 'J' style motor.

FloridaBiker,
Exactly the type and style of pipe Im looking for
I called the KZ specialists near me and he basically said the same thing. The headpipes will all fit, its the location of the hanger on the pipe thats the difference. He cant recall offhand if its an exact fit since he hasnt done to many 81-82 V&H Pipes recently.

For the rear hanger I took a piece of steel 2" long and 1/2" wide, drilled two holes in it and I was done.
My pipe is for sale if interested.
