Shaftie clutch slipping
31 Jan 2008 20:37
So i finally got to take the project bike on the road for a quick ride and the clutch is slipping a fair bit,is there any adjustment on the clutch besides the cable? it the 750 shaft drive motor with the clutch shaft going throgh the case and being actuaded from the left side.
trying to eliminate everything before i pull the plates out again and give them a going over and put heavier springs in. there was plenty of meat on the fibers before i put them in.
Cheers

If it started slipping without you having done any adjustments then you probably need to replace the clutch discs.
The only way it would slip from adjustments is if the clutch was adjusted too tight.
Is there any free play in the clutch lever?

yes plenty of free play, looks like I might get some new fibres and some upgraded springs whilst i am at it.
Can you get an extra plate kit that fits the 750? APE advertise them for the 900-1000 but no 750.

An another option could be to sandblast the old plates.
If they not are warped.
If there are blue patches in the plates, they could be warped.

Some of the newer motor oils will cause slipping.
