LTD 750 engine question was created by rm3sweet
It's been a while since my last visit. I've been busy and short on money but I really want to get my bike back on the road.
Bike: 1980 LTD750
Question: To rebuild or junk?
Reason: Threw a valve through one of the pistons and have had zero luck finding a replacement engine. I believe the head can be salvaged as well as the block but I have concerns about the head because it is pretty beat up from the valve hitting the dome.
Secondary question: Can the head have imperfections so long as the valves seal properly?

Sorry to hear about your 750, don't know what your money situation is but here is a motor. I think he wants way too much for it but I'm sure more will show up.

I would be real careful about dealing with that eBay seller, that seller joined eBay shortly after another bike salvage seller in Canton got banned from eBay.
Butthead sold me a supposed Kerker that was described as being in excellent condition, bottom pipes were smashed in and the thing was rusted beyond belief.
May just be a coincidence, but I wouldn't take the chance. But then it's "Once burned, twice shy" for me

You should check with Johnny's Motorcycle in Wadsworth, Ohio ... I know he has at least two 750-4 engines. The phone number at Johnny's is 330-335-7365 and his website address is
www.johnnysvintagemotorcycle.com
. Johnny Bova is a good guy and loves vintage KZ's ... I've been dealing with him since the mid-80's !!!
Good Luck !!!
