Hi All...

i suspect many people post subject lines like that when they get a project bike to turn over and idle...

figured i would not dissapoint!

Long and short:

pulled out the carbs (they were a mess!) and cleaned them up (and replaced some parts from an extra KZ305 carb set i had) and put them back in the bike today...

popped the gas tank back on and hit the button...

at first it did not do much, but then I remembered about the "pri" position on the petcock...

turned it to that (waited a few mins, even tried to drain float bowls - to get gas flowing - though nothing came out)...

then, hit the start buttom again...

BAMP! (in a good way!)....

she started right up and idled (little round) but "fine" (note: was producing some white exhaust but prob from some oil leak somewhere)...

not bad for a bike that sat for ~10 years (or more???)....

oh! I even shifted it into a couple of different gears (while on center stand).... odd though... seemed like it is:

?
?
3
N
2
1

book says:

5
4
3
2
N
1

though i cannot be sure.... appears to need some clutch/cable work too

I even tried to start it up with the "kick starter"...

LIKE A FREAK'N CHARM!!!

Brooommm, started right up... on ONE KICK!

damn! felt good!

so....

now it starts....

she goes up on the jack and I start the real work....

1st priority - rear wheel (sprocket, chain, new tire, alignment, check brakes, etc...)

2nd - front wheel (tire, alignment, brakes, etc...)

from there???

everything else (I guess)

thanks for all your help...

i'll be around (in the various forums now)...

Congrats! I just got mine running yesterday. :) Rough, but good enough to get to the gas station under its own power...

The ding in the front rim makes replacing that wheel my #1 priority, but I have cables to adjust & oil to change while I wait for the wheel...

yeah, we've had some real above ave temps in North East pst few weeks....

i guess there are some benefits of "global warming" (at least until the atlantic ocean is pounding at my front door - i'm ~15 miles from the coast so i have some time!)
