I have a KZ440LTD and just ordered a MAC 2 into 1 exhaust. For anyone who has any experience with these systems on kz's:

Will I need to buy any gaskets or other parts?

What did you do with the extra center stand that sticks out around the old (no longer exixting) left exhaust pipe?

Do the factory flanges work with the MAC system?

Any other thoughts?

Thanks

Try searching back a bit for this thread "MAC exaust system - 2007/02/22 21:49".

This URL might take you there

The Mac exhaust system I received came with steel bracket for the left side of the bike intended to maintain a bumper point for the center stand in the up position.

My recollection is that I purchased gaskets for the header, but I know I still have four of the gaskets floating around, so I suspect they were included with the pipes.

The piece of the center stand that curved around the now missing left pipe stays. It's where you push down with your foot to put bike up on center stand. I know, I know... but it needs to stay!

Yes, but it seems like without the left pipe, it could be shorter and still work. I just hope it doesn't get in the way. What is the "center stand retention" that comes with the 2 into 1 systems? Can the center stand still be used?

Thats just telling you that you wont have to remove your centre stand to fit these pipes.

Anyone getting the MAC exhaust for a GPZ750A model watch out, they say its for "all models" and after spending $500 to ship one out to me in AU I found out that its for the PRE-83 B models and not the A models.

I put a 2-1 MAC on my 750 twin. You will need new copper ring gaskets at the exhaust outlets on the heads. The pipes come with the mounting flages attached.

You may want to get a tube of exhaust pipe sealer to use when you assemble, mine leaks like crazy at the joints where the pipes come together and at the slip-on miffler point.

I had to rejet mine and go up a size on the pilot jet and two notches richer on my needles to get it to run decent.

YMMV

On mine, I ended up making a new bracket for the kickstand to rest against and also for the center stand to attach to using bungee cords.

When I got my V&H 4 into 1, I cut the part of my center stand that you use with your foot down so that I could keep the center stand without having 4 inches of metal sticking out. The piece of steel they sent works great for keeping the center stand in place. It is harder to get the bike on the center stand now, but I prefer it this way.
Good Luck.

Well, I recieved and installed the MAC 2 into 1 pipes on my KZ440 today. I still don't know if I upgraded or downgraded! :P The certainly look a lot better. Anyway, I don't know where to attach the spring for the rear brake. There was a little place to hook it on the old exhaust but now nothing, so all I can use is my front brakes until that is solved.

Also, The center stand seems like it rests much lower with this retention braket. I don't know, I might just take the whole center stand off. It just looks weird now without the left exhaust pipe. Any ideas on these issues?

Another issue is that there seems to be a lot more "popping" with the MAC system. Do I need to rejet? It seems to idle about the same.

Is the center stand bracket adjustable? The one that came with my Kerker 4/1 is. My center stand sticks out also but am used to it and like having it on bike so it stays. Can you make a new or cut off old brake spring bracket and weld to the MAC? Pic's help also.

If you mean "popping" when you let the throttle close, tht means the pilot jet is too lean.

On my 750Twin, I had to increase from the standard 40 pilot up to 47.5.

YMMV
