In certain situations this will work when you don't want to disassemble the motor. You still need to seal off the ports, case breather, etc.

Get your hands on a blasting cannister setup. You can probaly rent or borrow one.

Pick yourself up a few 50 lb. bags of baking soda from a feed store. Agway has it for about 8$ per 50lb. bag.

Fab up a blasting area out of whatever you have to work with. You may want to recycle / resuse the baking soda. It depends on the condition of the parts to start with as to how much soda you'll go through.

Probably not going to work good on factory painted cases, blocks, heads but will clean up bare aluminum ones with good results.

When I lived out in West Texas (I know, I know, born and bred) I was too cheap (too poor) to use anything but blow sand, but the resultswere similar to soda blasting. It will take off paint, but not quickly. I had a blasting set up from Harbor Freight. I think it cost $60, but it's been a while. Definitely an outside project. I just put the item on a tarp an supported on side on somethins to make a sort of pan and reused the sand. My bet is that's cheaper than the chiropractor's bill.

When i buy a bike i take the tank, seat, and side covers off and drag the bike to the car wash. I then soak the bike with armorall Wheel Cleaner. I sometimes use two bottles. It works great. It will give you a starting point on your clean up. Roy
