OT: ZX-11

A bit off topic, but I'm thinking about picking up a zx-11 with rod knock. Apparently this is a common problem with some zx-11s. The bike has about 45k miles and is otherwise in pretty good condition ... and it's cheap. Does anyone have any idea how expensive parts are and how difficult the repair might be (I would be doing the work myself). Is there typically collateral damage?

buy the bike and then adjust the balancer shaft! on the lower right side of the engine.!!BINGO!!noise disappears a great running bike again- (best case scenario)

"C" or a "D" model it is well worth the money to fix it if it is really a rod/rod bearing-whatever.

Yeah, currently own 'em all; but don't read 'running bikes' into that discription...several projects. The Hawks run and the 'Clone' and the 'J' are close, the 1150 is at Brian's shop right now; the rest are in some form of project-itis :laugh: . I was trying to figure out 'how many' over the years the other day ... got to 50 and took a break. I've been in bikes since I was born (literally) as my dad had a shop and I've just never gotten away from 'em. But really, don't think I've got Leno's collection or something...it's just stuff that I like, and I like to dink-around with.
Glad you got to talk to Brian...he's the ZX-11 man.
