Wonder if any of you guys can help me.

Do you know the standard internal diameter of the header pipes for the Z1000 / 1978?

My race engine will be 1100 with 33 smoothbores, 10.5 CR, soft race cams (0.39 lift), ported etc and I need to estimate a starting point for the new headers given the hoped for power increase!!!!

Better still anyone have schematic for a suitable race pipe I can fabricate or is it just easier for me to inport a Kerker etc into the UK.

Thanks in anticipation.

The inside diameter of each header pipe that came off one of my 1977 KZ1000's is 33mm. The pipe is aftermarket (MAC) but it should be the same for all pipes (including stock).

a good place to start with what you are building is 1.500" (38mm) inner diameter tube. primary lengths no shorter than 27.00" longer in length is ok and perfectly equal is a tough task. my 4 pipes go from 27 inches to 32 inches in length (2 bends ea.)into a 60mm collector inner diameter pipe and then to the megaphone or straight pipe

If you really want to build a pipe, PM me and I'll give you dimensions for your specific engine setup.

The other one was a 4 tubes that was not weilded to the end pipe it had a open end of 3.5 this made at a machine shop good friend I use his shop a lot he lets come in at night and use the machines a lot of the fabrication I did.

Thanks for the post I was typing with 1 hand. Could not down load 2 pictures off the 4 x 1 exhaust pictures to big.
I you can email me at jagcompany@aol.com and can email you back with some pics, I'm not racing the kz any more just fun street riding
