I know that's in the manual because that's where I read it when I was searching for J cams (because J cams have more lift and duration than LTD or CSR cams).
Got stung on eBay with a set of LTD cams that were supposed to be J cams, then lucked out and got the even better 83-84 GPz1100 cams.
Since that set has the tach drive gear, I'd say they are CSR cams.

the guy was trying to tell me they were j cams from a standard do you know if the gpz 900 water pumper cams work in the kz or not?

I would get your hands on some 29mm smoothbores as you will notice a difference that you will no doubt like. I might actually sell the ones I have on my bike if I go 1327cc probably not but those are the hot set up for that bike stock or modified a bit.

Right on the Money info on the stock cam ID method as well.
Look at the boss for grooves. Model designation is as follows.
J Standard Model
Intake - One Groove
Exhaust - No Groove
1000 K[LTD]
Intake & Exhaust - 2 Grooves
1000 M[CSR]
Intake - Two Grooves
Exhaust - Tach Gear
K&M were 10* less duration than the J
