80 Z1 Classic FI
06 Dec 2007 02:54
Just bought a almost complete FI system for an 80 Z1 but missing a few small parts. (Kind of like buying a saddle and not owning a horse!) I could use the metal bracket that the throttle shaft positioner switch mounts to and one rubber boot between throttle body and head. I am also looking for either a converted/carb'd Z1 or a FI bike to purchase. I am in the midwest. Thx

While looking for parts interchange I see the chrome grab bar will not interchange with anyother year. Can anyone explain what the difference is so I can be on the look out for one that will fit the as yet "phantom" bike? thx

The Z-1 classic did not use the typical ducktail like the rest of the 900/1000's did. Because of this the seat is longer to cover the rear of the frame also the computer for the fuel injection is housed in the seat under the passenger portion. Due to this extra length on the seat a longer grab rail is needed.

That's a pretty neat find. A bike like that should go to the Barber museum but my guess is some foreign buyer snatches it up. I'll be real interested to see how much it fetches.
