You're on your own, kid.Have no personal experience with this Back-Tap tool, but here's a link for consideration.

I have no knowledge of anyone who ever used it, but I see no reason it won't work. Now, ___I KNOW FOR A FACT!!!___ that you are considering buying this to use on someone else's head. If "your friends" head is not too badly damaged and if you have the aptitude and are careful enough such that _you never need it for yourself_, then you should be able to use it to safely chase threads.
