The title says it all. I can't seem to find the VIN on my KZ440 engine. Where is it?

It should be stamped on the engine cases above the clutch cover and just below the right carb.

Would that be on the left side of the bike? There is a little stamped metal plate there that has numbers but it starts with KZ440 which is the model number and didn't match my other VIN number so I assumed that wasn't it. Maybe it is not original or I am looking in the wrong spot.

Look on the head stock (steering stem) right behind the headlight, that's where the VIN number is, the number on the engine is the model and serial number of the engine.

Oh so motorcycles don't have the VIN on the engine block as well? It's just on the front stem?

Sorry, I thought you were trying to find your engine number which is different than the VIN#. The engine # will be found where I described on the right side of the cases when you are sitting on the bike. The VIN# is as Steell said, on the headstock.

Does any vehicle have the VIN on the engine block? I've never seen any, but I haven't seen everything.

I thought cars did. Maybe I just imagined that.

The engine, and the frame number(VIN) are not a matching number on the 440. The pic below shows where they are located on the 400 twins. On the 440 the frame number are located on the right hand side of the headstock
