How to remove a Tach Bushing-Meter Gear?

I'm trying to fix several oil leaks and need to take out the Tach Bushing-Meter Gear. (Part # 92087-010) The problem is, no matter how many times I turn the thing counter clockwise, it won't come out. Why would that be and how to I get around the problem?

After I turned it counter clockwise several times, I remembered that I was supposed to line up the timeing marks on the crankshaft first. So, once I remembered, I did that then continued to try and remove the meter gear.

BTW: It seems like that thing needs a 20mm socket to get it out. However, I didn't see any 20mm sockets at the store at all. It always jumped from 19 to 21. Whats up with that?

Any ideas guys/gals?

Took me a while the first time too. ;) Here is the direct link to the parts diagram for my bike: 1981 KZ750-H2

In case the link doesn't work, just select the year '1981' and click 'continue'.

That brings up the list of bikes. Mine is the one towards the bottom that says "1981 0740 LTD Street Bikes 750 LTD-4".

The image you're looking for is: Diagram # 32 "Cylinder Head Cover KZ750-H2/H3"

From the looks of the parts diagram, it isn't screwed into the cover, the locking plate holds it in. It just pulls out, and turning while pulling helps. Try putting some lubricant where it joins the cover. The seal or gunk may just be hanging it up and holding it from coming out.
