Gas Mileage was created by Doug
I'm wondering if anyone can estimate for me what kind of gas mileage I will get on my 1980 KZ250 once I get it on the road. Thanks.

I would think about a bazillion? :woohoo: Sorry, couldn't resist. Seriously, my 650 gets about 45-50 (no hot dogging) so I would think you would be in the 60+ range?

I have an ad for the 1980 kz440 that shows the kz250 in the corner and it says that the 250 will get 80 mpg.

there are a lot of things that will factor into mpg, size of rider, gearing, howw the bike is rode, amount of hills, stop and go traffic.
I have never got the mpgs that others get and I dont think I ride that hard

With a 250, you shouldn't ever have to fill up the tank, but once. (Enter sarcastic icon here)

If your weight is over 200 lbs, that will decrease your mileage, as opposed to someone with a weight of 150 lbs. The engine is rated at 19 horsepower, so go figure.

Riding in around town, in stop and go traffic, will give you worse gas mileage than at a constant speed.

Here's your bike's statistics:

I can see by this that you've already been there:

I really don't think anyone can estimate this gas mileage for you.

The smallest bike I'd ever ride on the freeway is my GPz550.

And routine maintenance items such as air pressure in tires, state-of-tune, good non-kinking well-lubed drive chain, free-spinning wheel bearings, non-dragging brakes, also whether using fairing or windshield, and undoubtedly other factors.

State-of-tune includes all ignition components and timing, valve clearances, air filter, carb related items (internal condition, settings for fuel mixture and float levels, adjustments, jet sizes). :)

you shoudlent worrie about what gas miliage you'll get on a kz250, you wont be able to find anything other than a moped that'll get better milage, and the moped will be far slower.

Thanks for the observations. My main reason in asking is to know about what my range is on the road so I can know whether I gotta gas up after 120 miles or 140 or so. I've got a 2.1 gallon tank so I should be good for a nice run. Thanks.
