I bought a XR80 at the swap meet in Ohio way back in July.I gave $325.00 for it. It would run but would not accelerate. I thought the advance mechanism was stuck. It turned out the woodruff key had sheared off and the bike was out of time.
I finished up some work on the Ninja and decided to finally work on the Honda. I don't know who designed the half moon woodruff key but he needs to be shot. I took a die grinder and brought the recess for the key all the way to the end of the crank shaft. That way i can use a longer woodruff key and it will be stronger.
About a 30 minute job.
Then Jamie says he wouldn't ride it! OK I'll have a bigger pit bike for next years meet.
