LTD 1000 exhaust on a LTD 900? was created by limitfish
Does anyone know if a LTD 1000 jardine 4 into 2 exhaust will fit on a LTD 900? I know the studs on the 900 are smaller (6mm instead of 8mm) but do the rear mounts match up?

It will probably work. You will need to test fit it to be sure. The frames on the 1000 and 900 are very similar. The one issue you need to watch for is whether there is access to the oil filter with this system in place.

Technically the pipes should fit...the LTD's are all very very similar. However, there was a design change in the pipes between 1976 and 1977. How that might affect the fit, I don't know. I know there can be fit issues when putting a set of aftermarket Z900 pipes on a Z1000 (they do fit, but its a struggle).

1974 900 Z1 modified to look like a LTD , some engine mods. But I still have all the original parts.
1977 1000 project bike
1972 H1 project bike
If pro is opposite of con, then what is the opposite of progress?

The major difference is that the 1976 900 LTD did NOT have "drain bolts" on the bottom of the front down pipes. These "front down pipes" being the head pipes coming out of the engine and into the mufflers. These can be seen on the bottoms of any 1977-1980 LTD exhaust system.
As I remember... I also think that the clamp that clamps the head pipe and the mufflers are somewhat different too. No biggy on either unless you are going to put it in a major show and are looking for 100 % correct.
But they will fit and work just fine. Since you would use the exhaust collars from your engine the 6mm vs 8mm exhaust stud won't be a problem. They will bolt up in back just fine.
I have a set of 1977 LTD's on my 1974 Z1 and they fit fine NO PROBLEMS AT ALL !!!
OH and they do NOT give you any problems with the oil filter either.
