WD-40 in cylinders for winter storage?

Oooops...looks like I forgot to pour a little fresh oil in the cylinders like I do every fall, for winter storage. Now I have to fiddle fart around, uncover the bike and have at er'. I was thinking that spraying WD-40 into the cylinders would be a lot quicker to do than pouring in some oil. Sound good or do you see a problem with this application? The bike is stored outside and it's getting on the nippy side now.

I know from my time in paintball that wd-40 will degrade o-rings over time; it will often make them swell and soften; in paintball the end result was a marker (gun) that would leak air.

I wd-40 is a lubricant and a solvent.

I would use the oil, how much longer would it take?

bought it because I was told it would never run again...I like to prove people wrong.

wd-40 will evaporate over time and it sucks for rust prevention as i learned in my machine shop class.

NO WD 40, the stuff was made to displace water, not as a oil, if you are going to take the time to pull the cover then take the time to winterize it the right way

Oil is better.
Also try to kick the starter over a bit every once in a while to move the cylinders to a different spot.

No, do not use WD40. As posted above, use engine oil. I use LPS2. It is a milspec lube and rust preventative. However, I live in Texas where I ride all year around.......When I lived up north, I just put the bike in the garage and never had a problem......chris3

Some responses that brought a smile. Ok, ok, I got off my lazy hoop, pulled the plugs and put some fresh oil in. Actually I did use a turkey baster this year. And yes every year I oil the cylinders and cycle through several times with the kick starter. Thanks for the WD-40 info, I wasn't sure.;)
