Gpz750 turbo motor in a 1977 kz650 was created by oldkaws4ever
Can u fit the gpz750 turbo motor in the kz650 frame? I have a lead on a low milage gpz750 turbo motor. And since i have the kz650 all ripped apart i was wondering if the 750 gpz would fit in the kz. I think it would look really wicked. Just wondering if it can be done. I have all the resources to make motor mounts and etc...

Sure well. You'll have to modify the motor mounts and the exhaust mounts. You'd want to use the GPZ charging system as it's easier to work on.

You can just use some spacers on the motor mounts and mount the motor solid instead of the rubber mounts.

I hope you get the wiring harness and computer with the motor, and you'll need to add a fuel return port to the tank. The gauges would come in handy since the GPz's use an electronic tach.

Oh lord, i think I'm gonna pee my pants. I haven't been this excited about a motorcycle I have owned since I was 8 years old and my uncle let me ride by myself for the first time.
I have a 78 kz650 that I love but want more power out of. And i'm getting a gpz750 turbo for a dirt cheap price, that I am pretty sure needs a ton of cosmetic work, but the engine is sweet (9000 miles).
I had no thought of ever trying to combine the two, and this just made my year.
You guys are amazing how creative and helpful you are. I can't wait to see how your project turns out.

How much more power would sir like?

Make sure you rubber mount the ECU like it is on the original bike. You might want to think about some wheels, tyres, brakes and suspension while you are at it

any advice for now?
I can't wait to smoke these little squids around town on my little 650:evil:

Oh, if it was mine I'd keep the twin shocks and put the ECU and fuel pump under the seat. If you go to monoshock you will probably run out of room under there as there isn't enough room for the ECU in the 650 tailpiece as far as I know. I'd probably try to get the 750 turbo swingarm in there with some new mounts for the shocks. You can get a 5.5" rim with a 180 tyre in the turbo arm if you are careful. Maybe some ZRX shocks would fit? A more recent front end would be a good idea, the turbo has nearly double the rear wheel power of the 650 so better brakes and tyres would be a good idea. The ZX11 front end is popular on my site. The 750 turbo / 650 hybrid is a bike I've always wanted to do, although I'd probably cheat and just put the 650 bodywork on my existing bike. The 650 is a bit shorter, and with no fairing to weigh the front down I hope you like wheelies! :silly:

my employer has to be so mad right now. The excitement has pretty much stopped my productive work right now. I guess it's good that i'm in charge today, and don't need to do any actual work.;)
