Let the fiber plates sit overnight in motorcycle-specific oil, before installing them.

What year bike, and any modifications to the engine?

The bikes have an oil bath clutch (they run in the engine oil). You let them soak in oil so they are ready to go when you put them in.

I still say letting them sit in oil does absolutely nothing. You can take a clutch plate out of an engine thats had oil in it for 25 yrs, wipe off the plate, run sandpaper across it and see the plate is dry once oil is removed from it. Oil does not soak into the fiber material. You put new dry plates in an engine, the instant you put oil in, the plates are oiled and ready. Just my opinion, do as you like. Soaking in oil takes no effort really, so do it if you feel the need. I don't.
