Cylinder pressure
14 Oct 2005 14:09
Does anyone out there know what the cylinder pressure during a standard (cranking) compression test would be for a bike with a 1045 kit? The pistons were in the motor when I got them, so I can only speculate they're probably Wiseco's. The motor is a 76 KZ900 bottom end, with a 1978 KZ1000 head with stock cams.
I did a compression test and the numbers are all over the map. Two (1&4) are in the 180-185 range. Looking down the plug hole, the piston crowns don't appear to be any more carboned up than the other two cylinder's which are in the 140-150 range.
I have yet to pull off the valve cover and check the clearance, hopefully #2 & 3 are just hanging open a wee bit. I just want to make sure 180-185 is in the ballpark for a 1045 kit.
Thanks
