Automatic = You don't ever need to touch it except during a rebuild

Manual = You do need to loosen a bolt to let the spring put more pressure on the cam chain and set a new base point for the tensioner.

1978 KZ650 D1 ~ Carb jetting: 107.5 & 20 & 4th groove with pods and 4-1 Exhaust

I guess the great thing about this site is that u continue to learn more and more. I apologize and thank ya for clearing that up for me, and now I know. Sorry if I confused anybody (well....besides me lol)

77 KZ650C airpods and 4 into 2 turn outs exhaust. VM carbs

82 550 LTD all stock except air pods

I used to think the same thing. I figured a little maintenance still meant automatic as I didn't have to try and adjust it.
