cleaning motor, inside and out. was created by jordan
I have the top end completely off of my 81 750 motor. All that is there is the bottom end. The oil pan is also off. While trying to scrape off the gasket, I got quite a few gasket pieces that fell down around the crankshaft. I was wondering if it would harm anything if I pressure washed around the crank through the cylinders, and let the water run out the bottom, and then take an air hose and blow everything dry? Would rust occur, anything seize up? Just curious, wouldnt want to screw up my motor after getting this far in the build.

I concur. However, avoid using comressed air to dry it out. Don't want to force any bits into anywhere you don't want them.

Brake clean works great and it evaporates right away. Buy 4-5 cans, goes fast!

I used a pressure washer and then sat the motor on a steel plate that was on top of an electric radiator. I left it overnight and it dried pretty quickly although there was a little bit of surface rust where some droplets dried then gave a quick spary with Liquid Wrench spray lubricant into every nook and cranny.

Worked great for me.
