GPZ head. Power adders? was created by jordan
I finally got my hands on a set of Gpz cams and a head for my kz750. The head is definately gonna have to be cleaned up. Seats cleaned up, grime removed. I suppose the valves will have to come out to get everything cleaned up real good. I want to try to get a little extra power out of the head. What are the options that you guys have done, or know works? Shims, porting, anything?

Here is a good site to give you a little info on punching up the 750 motor.
gpzrider.lagemann.org/technical/FAQ2000.htm
You might want to consider porting the head's intake and exhaust runners and milling the surface to clean up any divots or nicks on the mating surface. Do a search in the archives for these upgrades and you can then decide on how much you want to do to the head. The porting and polishing you can do yourself with a variable speed drill and an aluminum cutting/grinding bit.
I would simply clean up the whole head, check the valves, seats, springs, retainers, valve seals and shim settings and call it a day. If the valves look like they aren't seating properly take the head to a machine shop and have them do a valve job.
You will probably be quite impressed with the power gains from the GPz head and cams over the stock Kz750. A new head gasket would also be on my to do list.

They are stock on all the 650/750 fours.

Make sure you have 83 or 84 cams. They are supposed to be better. Also there is a 810 kit on ebay right now for $390 new.

Yep, my cams and my head are from an 83. Sounds like a good deal on the pistons though, but I already got mine.
