for some reason my brain locked up when i just clicked to post...adjust your lever, cable, and the uhh..i cant think of it..the thing on the left side of the engine...remove two phillips screws, and then loosen the lock nut with a 12 mm wrench, and then turn out till its loose, and then tighten untill it becomes hard to turn then back out a quarter turn then set lock nut. worked great for me? im sure someone knows it better.

senthetic oils sometimes cause clutch slippage, depending on bike.

If your lever has the correct free play, that's all the adjustment you have and the clutch just needs new plates or springs. You can adjust the side of the engine dohicky thing for eternity and it aint going to make 2 cents worth of difference on clutch slip. Check your lever, if it has no play either loosen the adjustment there and/or in the center of the cable and/or at the engine. My personal recommendation is to never fool with the engine adjustment unless someone else has fouled it all up by goofing with it. The cable adjusters are more than enough adjustment for correct freeplay at the lever. All I can say is my own experience and I've never seen the need to fool with the engine adjustment in all these years on any of my KZs.

What oil are you using? I just changed from an automotive oil (Havoline 10-40) to Valvoline 4-Stroke Motorcycle oil (also 10-40), and the clutch engagement has improved. It now engages over a longer range and it engages more smoothly. It's noticeably easier now to take off smoothly.
