Ok i was checking everything over before firing uo my 79 1000 that has been sitting for a few years and discovered that 2 of the bolt holes for the cam bearing caps are stripped can you get Heli coils in this size? or do i need to just drill and tap to next larger size.that might be a problem as the bad holes are the ones for the dowell pins Thanks

Helicoils are available in almost every size. The cam bolts aren't an odd size(at least as far as know). You might want to look at these: www.timesert.com .

AS there a little more robust than helicoils.

Hope this helps...Sam

Just about every auto parts store has the kits to install helicoils in the stripped out holes. I have done two complete heads because the ham handed former owners don't know the difference between inch lbs and foot lbs or what a torque wrench even is. I picked up an extra length drill bit so I could drill out the old threads without removing the head. I got it at either Home Depot or Lowe's.....chris3
