Z1R engine VIN #

KZT00DE042196 does ant know if it is a 1978 or 1980 Z1R engine.Thanks for any help. Mark

Must be an '80. My Z1R motor is a 1978 with a motor # of 005583.

Hmmm...your number series is too high...check www.zedder.com under 'bike info' for confirmation.

It shouldn't be too hard to tell if it is a 78 or an 80 motor. If you have the 80 that would make it a MKII motor the engine covers are much different. The trans cover curves are more angular and the clutch adjustment cover is not tear drop shaped. Also the 80 motor would have the pollution control valve cover where the 78 would not.
