Hi All
Will a 1983/84 GPZ Head fit on a 1981/82 J motor?
The heads look to be the same casting, only the combustion chamber looks different. has anyone tryed this?

It should fit, but the head you are talking about ('83-'84 GPZ) has a different shape combustion chamber. I believe it takes a different piston so you might have to use different pistons to fit that particular head. SO....head should fit, but the motor will probably need other modifications to work right.

That is what I noticed, That the 83/84 head has try-shyrical combustion chambers. Being set deeper in the head, this would mean that the compression would be a bit lower. This would be no problem, only to measure the chamber volume and do the math. as long as it would bolt on and mechanicly function with the same cam drive, is what I was conserned about.

The 83-84 1100 head is generally considered to be the best two valve head Kawasaki ever made, and it usually sells for $600-$800 on eBay.
