Where to get a clutch cover gasket? was created by blorgfreth
Hi guys.

Just got an 82 GPz550. Engine runs great, but the clutch slips prety badly at high speed (60mph+) or under hard acceleration.

Replacement friction plates don't seem to be a problem, but I can't find anyone with a clutch cover gasket, including the dealer. Any ideas? If I'm forced to make my own, is there any particular gasket material I should make sure to get? Is the Permatex blue goop stuff safe to use?

I've adjusted the cables already. They were WAY too tight when I got the bike, so I'm guessing the prev owner just glazed the thing to death. I'll need the gasket even if the plates can be repaired via sanding.

It's been 10 years since I worked on an engine, and so my memory on these little details is pretty foggy.

Make sure you know the correct part numbers (hopefully dealer can provide numbers) then try:

Wow. I spent an hour searching Ebay and couldn't get that match.

Thanks for the help.

Edit: Part number verified by dealer, gasket ordered...saves me a ton of trouble. Thanks again!
