Spirting Oil was created by screwfox
I have an 83 fl kz550 spectre - shaft
I have filled up the rear transmission with the correct gear oil SAE 80 nor 90 I cannot remember off the top of my head. I have not overfilled it. Yet I'm getting some oil leak out onto the rear wheel (only whilst riding) and sometimes onto the rear tyre.
Has anyone else experienced this??

You filled it from the hole on the side,
not on top through the vent? Let any excess
oil drain out said hole? If so,and you still
have a leak, there are two seals for the axle,
One on the outside, one on the inside. You should
be able to see with the wheel off. Also make sure
the top vent is working and no pressure is
building up inside.

Did you drain all the old oil out before adding the new oil?
And if so, did you make sure the crush washer was still on the drain bolt when you tightened it up?
It's a pretty thin washer and very easily lost in an oil drain pan (been there done that on my ZN), and if missing will cause oil to leak from around that bolt.
