Just got my 76 Kz900 out of mothballs and had wiregeorge rebuild the carbs. Changed the points out to pointless ing. New plugs, new four into one header. New plug caps. Acid washed fuel tank. Starts fine but spits back thru carbs at low speed intermittently. Have not run compression check yet. Seems to stop if choke is on slightly. Thanks

Welcome to KZr Handcannon. :)

If it stops/lessens when you use the choke, first thing I think of is a vaccum leak.
Have you tried spraying WD-40 or something similar on each individual intake manifold and airbox boot yet to see if the idle changes?
If the idle changes (usually increases), then you've got a vaccum leak at that boot or manifold.

This sounds like a lean condition too me as well. Also check that the gas cap is venting properly, try richening the pilots, timing, anything that may cause leanness.Good luck

I am going to check the intakes for leaks but I don't see why it running lean would cause it to pop or spit back thru the carbs. Since wiregeorge tested the carbs and said they ran fine on the test bike I guess I can assume it is not a adjustment problem with them. I thought it might be a valve problem since it set for so long but if that was the case it should do it every time that valve opens. Thanks

a lean mixture can cause it to fire early .
