1978 kz1000 colours

What were the factory colours for the kz1000 in 78?Any one know or have pics?

They came in luminous red and luminous green. To get an exact match is pretty tricky because the base colour setup was pretty complicated.

There was also a black with gold striping that was available about mid year as I recall. I assume you are talking about the A model.

How can you tell what model you have?

Ricerocket...look at your frame VIN and then at the sixth character...if it is an 'A' then = standard, if 'B', then = LTD, if 'C', then = Police, if 'D' then = Z1R

Checked my numbers on neck they say KZTOO D
I am missing the number between the O and the D.

post a close up of your bike so we can narrow it down to whether or not its an A anyway

Post a photo if you can (like Wireman-oops, PLUMMEN asked) BUT, what you describe is a Z1R frame...what does your title say for the vehicle VIN? If it is a Z1R frame, and that is a photo of your bike in your avatar, then you have a Frankenbike, of sorts. Not necessary a bad thing (I have one of those also) and certainly a very good thing to know when buying parts.
