APE Tensioner question was created by Mike W.
After a massive battle with literally every single thing that could go wrong, I got the bike buttoned up and it included the APE tensioner. Upon starting, the noise was scary as hell, thus... it's loose.

If anyone has one of these an a KZ1000 (P in my case), can I ask HOW you get your wrenches on to the tensioner to adjust it?!!! The wrenches seem to only have about 3-4 degrees of swing. Any help would be MUCH appreciated.

(Praying nobody said "just take the carbs off again":)

Try a ratchet with a long socket. This is how I have adjusted mine.

Thanks.. that's actually what I used to take the cap off the old automatic tensioner. On the APE manual one, the end of the bolt is actually right up against a bracket that runs along the bottom of the carbs, so you couldn't even get a box wrench on it.
