Turbo time? was created by tjettim
I am still mulling over my next bike.I have my bass boat for sale and I want a fast bike. But I still
want good streetability. Will a turbo bike still
perform with a decent noise level mufler? Most
for sale just have a blooey pipe on them-way too
loud. How about cruising range.I have heard horror
stories of 15MPG or so.A bad setup? How about
nitrous? I have seen a few motors grenade. Can it
be setup safely? Handling issues have always kept
me from trying it on the KZ.

If you wanna go turbo0 I have a complete setup off my bike -- make ya a killer deal on it--

Turbo bikes are pretty quiet--- Either way is fun-- I took the turbo off mine-- didn't give it a chance just was being a pain in the a$$.

With a schnitz box NOS is very controllable and safe-- thats whats on my bike now.

Mileage shouldn't be 15mpg unless something is seriously wrong. If you're not into the boost the fuel milage should be close to any other NA engine.

Shannon's right. Turbo bikes should be fairly quiet. The turbo acts like a muffler. The turbo funny bikes (600+hp) are normally queit enough you can heard the tire squealling when they take off.

I say go with a slightly over bored Kz (say 1075 or 1105cc) and run a turbo with mild boost(10-12psi) or so and have fun.

Build the bottom end right and you'll have some long trouble free miles.

I realy like the new 1250 Suzuki Bandit. If
I have the money,I would love to Turbo one.
The other thing I might do is get a dinged
up ZX12R and do the naked conversion on it.
I saw one done that looked good and the ergos
I could live with.A guy I know in Battle Creek
MI put a dry nitrous kit on a ZX12 and it seems
to hold up.I just want to beat my kid on his
ZX14 and still be able to ride it without wrenching
all the time.Once you pipe,power command,and take
the restricter butterflies out of those 14s,they
realy pull.At my age,I don't want much more than
that. The roads around here are not straight long
enough.I was testing to see what a fast naked bike
would feel like,so I ran the 14 up to 165mph then
tried to sit straight up.The wind pull is incredible.
If I do a 12 streetfighter,I will put a larger
sprocket on the back and some 5" swingarm extensions.
I just use the KZ for cruzin' and beatin' Harley's.
Love that look on their face after their Big Dog
etc. gets smoked by a 30 year old riceburner.

Anyone know of a turbo kit currently being manufactured for the KZ? I have a customer interested, and I check Mr. Turbos site and they list the J model but no KZ.

I'm reliably informed MrTurbo do have kits for the KZ900 and earlier KZ1000s, they just aren't on their website.

Thanks, I will call them as Terry doesn't seem to be able to answer e-mail.
