650 and 750 cranks
13 Jul 2007 09:55
#1 I know this has been asked a million times and as far as I can remember the are the same. The thing is that the gpz uses a hyvo chain and I was wondering if the 750 uses a hyvo chain. The motor is was built 6/81.
#2 Are the connecting rods different in size?
#3 Will the magnetic flywheel fit on my existing 77 650b1 engine on the bike I ride now. The reson for this is to eliminate the voltage regulator energizing the feild in the alternator.
The reson I'm asking is that There is a crank on ebay for 12.99 / 22.95 for shipping  2 days left no bids cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/Kawasaki-KZ750H-...dZ1QQsspagenameZWDVW
Should I pick it up for the 650 block I'm building, Gpz head, pistons, cams, oil pan, 750 jug.

Yep, all the 750 fours use a HyVo cam chain.
But, the early KZ750 heads also have provision
for the roller chain roller sprocket like the 650.
The GPz heads don't, so plan on some serious modifying
for the GPz head if you use a roller chain.
It's best to use the crank and matching rods, or you
get into bearing matching hell.
Your 650 rotor will fit on the 750 crank, I've done it.
A Honda early eighties CB900C primary chain is supposed to be
the same as the KZ/GPz750 primary chain, but
a lot cheaper (according to my research).
You can use the 750 rotor and stator, just have to use
the matching regulator.
It will fit on your 650 motor (if that's what you are asking).
Have to change the plug on the wiring harness.
