KZ1000 top end on KZ650 bottom? was created by jordan172005
I was just wondering if it's possible to put a KZ1000 top end on a KZ650 bottom end? If it is possible what modifications would have to be done for it to work?

I want to tell you it won't work but have never heard of this before so I just can't tell you it won't for sure. The cylinder spacing is the same. I suspect the problem you would run into would be the piston stroke... the rods for a 1015cc engine would have to be mounted on a 650 crank somehow to achieve the correct stroke. Not sure if the crank would allow the correct stroke even if you could mount the 1015cc rods. The rods on a 1015cc are not meant to be removed or changed out, unlike the 650 rods. Since the crank bearings are totally different for a 650 than a 1015, I doubt it would be easy to swap cranks... I suspect there are engine builders on this board who could tell you if it is possible... I suspect it IS possible if you have the know-how, machine tools and money; most anything is! bwhahahaha Not sure why anyone would want to do this. It would be easier to fit a full 1015cc engine in a 650 frame by doing some welding of motor mounts than doing the engineering on the engine...
