Valve Seats-650 Head-750 Valves/Cam
31 Dec 2005 14:23
Pulled my '77 650 Custom out of the garage today to hear the old 700 Wiseco run one last time before beginning the 810 Wiseco transplant for the spring. Boy did it sound crisp and nasty in the minus 10 degree cold! I was almost tempted to take it out for a burn on the snow covered roads but quickly remembered the time my (then 17 year old) brother slid his little KH100 into the side of a police cruiser during a snow storm while having a pair of crutches slung over his shoulder. He couldn't walk to his girlfriends house for some afternoon delight so he decided to take his bike. What a genius he was sometimes:)
Back to my question; In addition to the Kz750's bigger jugs I am also putting the Kz750 cams into the '77650 head which I have ported and polished. I will probably also change the intake valves to the 750 size to let the motor breathe better. Anyone know the exact size of the intake valve seats I need to have my machine shop order for me? Also, anyone know who might supply them already radiused instead of having to cut the 3 angles into them?
Cheers for a Happy New Year-Colin Firth -Ontario Canada

Are you sure you need larger seats? Most of the KZs will take 1.5mm over intakes and 1 mm over exhaust on the stock seat. Be sure your machine shop opens the seat throat out oversise, not just move the 45 out to accomidate the larger valve.

the purpose of a 3 angle is to get the seat area to be true round plus it hepls the flow, you can puy the larger valves in the existing seats, find a shop that uses the Serdi valve machine, a simple operation for them
