z1000 rattle, found problem was created by martijn
This evening I dismanteld the engine. My main target was still the clutch which seemed to make a lot of noise below 1300 rpm.
I found that the springs in the back plate of the housing where kind of "loose" I could move them quite easy. One spring had 1,5mm play and was already beaten, see pic. Also has the "sprocket" on the clutch some play on this 6 spring backplate.
Is it safe to weld all this together?? so there will be then no dampner system in the clutch

Very common problem, but there is an easy fix.

Go to www.schnitzracing.com and do a search for this part number: FCC-CK-KAW

This kit contains new heavy-duty damper springs and three heavy-duty rivits.

The input shaft needs to be separated from the basket. Then the three rivits are drilled out to disassemble the basket. Clean everything up. Install the new springs. Reassemble the basket (Needs to be pressed together to hold everything in position.) Then the three rivits are welded in place.

I would not recommend this as a DIY project. But any M/C shop with experience modifying Kawasakis for drag racing can perform the installation.

Oh Yea, Do Not weld the basket with the idea of eliminating the damper springs. They serve to protect the trans, crankshaft and clutch assy from very high, transient torque loads that occure during hard launches and clutchless upshifts (e.g. air-shifters) And yes, even for street use, keep the damper springs.

Hope this helps
